Here's another installment of my China Collage Share. This is called "Hell Money". It is traditionally burned at funerals to make sure the deceased has enough to get them through in the afterlife. They use the word "hell" to refer to the underworld; not meaning the same "hell" as we use in Western speech.

I remember my daughter-in-law visiting from Japan (she's Chinese) and we went to a craft store here and she freaked and had to leave because they had some paper that was cursed or something- was in red and green I think- she made me tell the manager what it meant so they could get rid of it- and they did! It just looked cool to me?!?!

This is hysterical! I love the "Hell Bank Note". I think it's fun to learn about different cultures, but this particular factoid just tickles me! :-)
